I have been accepted as a 2026 student of WINGS-GLAFS (World-leading Innovative Graduate Study Program in Gerontology: Global Leadership Initiative for Age-Friendly Society) at the University of Tokyo. The program is open to students from many fields, not only those who study older adults directly. Its aim is to help each student connect their own research to the challenges of an aging society.

My research examines how high-speed rail, such as the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, reshapes population and welfare across regions in an aging, shrinking Japan. Through the program, I hope to extend this work to issues such as the restructuring of regional transport.
